Here are the 3 best hikes to try in Montenegro that offer stunning views, beautiful nature, and fresh air:

Hike to Kotor Fortress

Kotor Fortress has great views.

The first and most famous hike in Montenegro is the Kotor Fortress trail in the city of Kotor. This route offers some of the most amazing views of the Bay of Kotor. Plus, it’s easy to access.

From the base of the old town, walk up a steep, slippery hill to the top, where you’ll reach the old Fortress. The trip takes around 40 minutes each way and costs 8 euros per person.

This hike is pretty steep and can be challenging for the elderly and for children. However, if you are an avid hiker, you will find it easy.

Hikers should be aware that the stone stairs that used to be there have worn away, leaving behind very slippery, flat stones. This results in a few falls if you are not careful. Wearing anti-slip shoes to avoid any mishaps.

It’s best to start this easy hike early in the morning before the sun passes the top of the mountain. In the summer, it can get extremely hot, which makes this route more challenging.

If you are hiking in the middle of the day, be sure to wear sunscreen, bring water, and wear a hat. If you forget your water, there are often local vendors selling it along the way.
