A young lion must face all of his fears to find his mother. The novel is full of African fauna and flora, hyenas, killer, rogue lions and warm friends. Great action from start to finish.

I look forward to reading others you have recommended. May I also make two more suggestions of books written some years ago but are timeless. George Schaller’s The Year of the Gorilla (1959). Dian Fossey subsequently followed on from Dr Schaller’s work on mountain gorillas in the Virunga Mountains. Schaller is a scientist but has an excellent way of communicating his scientific studies in a readable manner.
My second recommendation is King Solomon’s Ring (1949) by Konrad Lorenz the Austrian zoologist. This is a fascinating read on the behaviour of jackdaws and other animals. Written by the person who along with Niko Tinbergen was in 1973 , awarded a Nobel Prize for their scientific work.
Kind regards,
Barrie
