Ellen, thanks for sharing your experience. Definitely pros and cons to travelling in a group vs solo travelling.
]]>Thanks so much for this article. Since I have been traveling alone for decades, this has been a challenge. Thanks for putting a positive spin on it!
]]>@Alley, so glad that it helped. It’s funny how we can rationally get that we’re just not connecting with a group but still let it have a negative impact on us. I totally get it – I’m the same way :). Hope that you were still able to enjoy your trip.
]]>Wow what a great article! I just had this same exact experience traveling with a group in Thailand for 2 weeks. I’ve gone through the mental process of acknowledging that we are just not connecting and it’s nobody’s fault, but I still had an overwhelming insecurity of feeling “not good enough” which in my heart I know it’s complete BS , however the feeling was still looming until I read this article. I feel a lot better just hearing about your experience as well as all the comments I’ve read on your article.
Many thanks to you! My inner child can rest a bit more now 🙂
@Jochell, sorry to hear that you had such a negative experience on your tour but kudos to you for getting out of your comfort zone. That’s huge! You’re definitely not alone. It’s a horrible experience but one that many of us have experienced.
]]>@Sally, I’m so glad that it was helpful and so sorry that your most recent group holiday wasn’t a positive experience. It’s funny how it bothers us, even as adults. We should know better but I think wanting to fit in is very natural. I hope that you were still able to enjoy your holiday. Kudos to you for doing them. I can only imagine how difficult it must have been after being widowed.
