While there is probably something true about his worries, I’ve experienced the same rejection feelings in my own country so I know that making generalizations based on individual experiences is kinda tricky. I feel kinda frustrated because I haven’t even tried seriously and the feeling of being afraid before anything happens seems ridiculous, but it is so real. Closing my doors without even having tried? makes me feel so encaged.
I think that experiences are so different for each one of us, and hopefully these tips will be super helpful, and will keep me on the move, thanks! <3

]]>Calling friends from home made this last move great for me. It exhausted some of my old friendships though. When i lived in another foreign place i failed to call my old friends and the languagr barrier was real for the new invitations to parties. . .so yes ex pat support would be great. Due to the fact my job keeps me moving so much. My friends are so nice to me with every move. . .they try to see me through until i make new friends in the new place. Ahhh. . .miss them now i do.
]]>@Mari – I’m so sorry to hear this. Are there are any free clubs or groups you can join? I used to belong to a book club at my local library. The other book group members were older than I was but I still enjoyed it and it was free. I really hope you can find a way to feel better. Please keep trying. It will be worth it. It’s so important to find a friend or two and it’s worth the effort.
]]>@Kassandra – That’s really strange as I haven’t had a “subscribe to comments” function for years. There’s no way that I can unsubscribe you since I don’t have this function on my website but there should be an “unsubscribe from comments” link in the email with this option. I know I’ve seen it in emails when I’ve subscribed to comments on other sites in the past. I hope that helps.
]]>@ Dr. Peter Bisbey, so glad that it was useful. I’m a huge fan of meditation as well but truly believe that life is better when we connect with others – even though it takes time to make meaningful connections – especially in a new country. Best of luck.
