Oh dear, I’ve fallen in love – with the VW you travelled in! My wife, baby son and I travelled off and on for a year in a brand-new 1975 Kombi Van – around England, down to Spain, and later across to Italy and Corfu. From Corfu my Mum and I travelled back to England while my wife went to Australia to show the baby to the other grandmother. I have a blog, which contains some tales of travel in a VW Beetle in the 1960s, but I haven’t written about our time in the Kombi yet. Maybe the photo of your van will encourage me.

A castle stay is way up high on my list! Romantik hotels offer some amazing properties. I would have ate all 3 creme brulees too 🙂

I’m usually a “top floor room in a 60 story hotel” kind of guy, but these quaint little places look awesome. The room over the river would be a great hideaway with my wife.

@Camels and Chocolate – I hadn’t heard of them recently either, but loved the concept and seeing it in reality. I’ve never seen anything like it. Cool that this was your and Scott’s first trip, must have been fun. It was my first time in the Netherlands.

I’ve never heard of this company, but I love the concept. Funny enough, Scott’s and my first ever trip together was to the German/Netherlands border when we were students in Holland and went on a weekend tour with the International Students Association!
