It’s a blast but it can be more tiring and sketchy. you want a shoe with some tread. Wet steel and bald approach shoes don’t inspire confidence. Also make sure you have a real set up. You’re looking at a fall factor of 5 or greater if you slip so making your own lanyard is a bad idea.

Laurel do you own your own kit? I was tempted by the kit on sale at Quechua, Domancy earlier this year. A harness with two lanyards, and helmet at a very reasonable price.
